Gill Booth

Hi, my name is Gill, and I am an integrative therapist. I am also a psychosexual therapist dealing with all sexual dysfunctions including sexual addiction. I work with couples and individuals who are experiencing any difficulties both sexual and relational.

I began my working career working for a private company distributing to the soft furnishing trade. My role within this company was managing and training staff, plus acting as a trouble shooter helping with difficulties and disputes with their customers. I left to have my first child in 1993 and then went on to set up and run my own business within the interiors trade. Having my second child in 1998 I continued to run that business until recently.

My therapist journey started in 2007 and after completing a degree in integrative counselling later in 2015 I decided to specialise in sexual issues. Sex addiction was my main interest, but I realised that learning more about all sexual difficulties would enable me to help a wider range of couples and individuals. I completed a psychosexual post grad diploma at master’s level and I am shortly embarking on further studying starting a sex addiction diploma accredited by ATSAC (Association for the Treatment of Sex Addiction and Compulsivity).

Psychological therapies that I use tend to fall into the following categories…

Behavioural that focus on the cognitions and behaviours. Identifying and challenging self-destructive patterns. I believe that behaviours are learned which makes damaging behaviours possible to change.

Psychoanalytical and Psychodynamic that focus on the unconscious thoughts and perceptions developed through childhood. How an individual’s attachment style can affect the way they think about themselves and the world around them. This style of therapy looks to re-evaluate and change outdated belief systems and repair attachment ruptures.

Humanistic that focusses on the true self. Being aware of who you are in the here and now.

I like to combine various therapeutic modalities to help my clients reach there potential. My ethos is that change is achievable, and everyone deserves the chance to better themselves. My style is always positive no matter what we are dealing with. I work with the core conditions underpinning all my work which are to be empathic, non-judgmental, congruent, and always offer unconditional positive regard.

I am a member of BACP (The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists).
