Couples and Relationship Therapy
“Let there be spaces in your togetherness” Kahlil Gibran.
It is normal and natural for growing couples to encounter struggles in their relationship. There are times when complex issues can seem unsurmountable and specialised support is needed. Perhaps something has happened to change the way a person feels about their partner, there is difficulty in communicating with each other and conflict, relationship diversity, or shared life goals have drifted.
Couples and relationship therapy involves building a foundation on which the way forward can be explored. Whether it is a current crisis in the relationship or facing longer-term problems the therapy focuses on communication, developmental stages of your relationship, life experiences and influences beyond the relationship.
We take an integrative and developmental approach in couples and relationship therapy, which means incorporating a number of different schools of thought and couples may be asked to undertake some homework assignments between sessions. Our focus and interest is on the matters arising for you and within your relationship.
We meet with couples usually over 12 sessions. Initially the sessions are weekly, then fortnightly. We work with men, women, and gender diverse adults, individuals and couples.
